Town centres parking surveys
We are currently responsible for the operation of public car parks in towns and villages across Aberdeenshire, while ‘on-street’ parking enforcement remains the responsibility of Police Scotland. We investigated whether to apply to decriminalise ‘on-street’ parking as a measure that could help to improve the management and vitality of town centres. To assist with this, a consultation was undertaken to seek opinions from town centre users and businesses about town centre parking, as well as information gathering to allow our officers to gain a local understanding of the link between current and proposed parking arrangements and the impact on businesses in town centres. The consultation formed part of ongoing work into our future parking needs and all comments made were considered as part of the process. Find out more about parking in Aberdeenshire.
