Garioch Resilience Group (GRG)

During 2015 and 2016, a group of volunteers set up a temporary headquarters in the then British Legion in Inverurie to assist those who had been affected by flooding in Inverurie and Port Elphinstone.

Since then we have been working with residents, Inverurie Community Council, and Scottish Flood Forum to formally set up a plan, involving volunteers and local groups in the event of flooding, severe weather, utility failure, major fire and medical epidemic in our area.

Community Resilience is an initiative supported by local, Scottish, and the UK governments. The principle is that communities develop a local plan so that they can help themselves during an emergency in a way that complements, but in no way replaces, the response of the emergency responders.
